JAMES REEVE

Project Info:

These images were shot in the late 90s, when I was working as an assistant, mostly to fashion photographers. Over a 2-year period I travelled regularly to the fashion shows in New York, Paris, Milan and London, often having unprecedented backstage access with the photographer I was working with.

Once the shows started all of the other photographers and video crews had to leave, but we were allowed to stay, shooting the models as they raced back and forth to change outfits.

I was experimenting at this time with a style of 'no look' photography, which involved taking the shot without looking through the viewfinder. This of course gave no guarantee of a perfectly composed image but allowed me to experiment with unusual angles, see shots 4, 5, 9 & 14.
